FX has set the cast and timeline for the next installment of the Emmy-winning series  Shōgun. Season 2 of  Shōgun   will pick up a decade after the events of Season 1. Hiroyuki Sanada reprises his role as Lord Yoshii Toranaga, while Cosmo Jarvis reprises his role as John Blackthrone. Behind the scenes, Sanada’s role has expanded from producer to executive producer, while Jarvis joins the creative team as a co-executive producer. No other official casting has been announced as of yet. Sanada will executive produce alongside co-creators and showrunners Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks, Michaela Clavell, Edward L. McDonnell and Michael De Luca. It's always sad when a beloved retailer closes stores, especially when the local community relies on those stores for certain items. But, sometimes, there's a turnaround and those stores open again. Such is the case with a popular retail chain that recently closed all of its locations. Now, that chain is re-opening 132 stores in May alone. That store is discount retail chain Big Lots . The company is entering the second phase of its comeback on May 1, and in doing so, Big Lots will reopen 54 stores on May 1, followed by another 78 stores starting May 15. Big Lots filed for bankruptcy in September 2024 , and the company announced it would close all of its its 800 stores in December 2024. But, towards the end of the year, Variety Wholesalers agreed to buy more than 200 Big Lots locations from the liquidation firm Gordon Brothers . A video shows the horror cybertruck crash that injured basketball star Alijah Arenas. TMZ obtained the video, which shows Arenas rolling on the ground in a "huge puddle of water" after the rash caused the cybertruck to light on fire. A neighbor recorded the video after the crash occurred in Los Angeles's San Fernando Valley, according to TMZ. The witness told TMZ that he saw Arenas "stuck inside the flame-engulfed vehicle." People pulled Arenas from the vehicle and he ended up without a shirt or shoes in the roadway, according to TMZ. According to TMZ , Arenas is the son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas. The U.S. spirits industry saw record growth in 2024, but that success might be hampered by the  White House tariffs.   The American Spirits Exports released their annual  report , published by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States on April 24. They revealed that spirit exports from the U.S. achieved a record $2.4 billion last year which is a cause for celebration after a downturn in the industry. One of the  most anticipated movies of 2025 has finally dropped its first teaser trailer. Following on the success of the prequel movie Prey , director Dan Trachtenberg's next live-action Predator  movie is called Predator: Badlands . No,  Arnold Schwarzenegger is not in the trailer, but it seems that his absence will be more than made up for by Elle Fanning.  The new movie is set in the distant future, on some kind of burned-out planet, and features Fanning's character teaming up with a younger Predator named Dex, played by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. The trailer doesn't show us much of their alliance, but the action looks impressive, immersive, and utterly different from any other film in the franchise. One day after it announced four major route cuts , Alaska Airlines has now revealed new route expansions. Alaska Airlines will add flights from San Diego International Airport (SAN) to Chicago, Denver and Phoenix, with all flights operating three times daily year-round. According to The Points Guy ,  Alaska Airlines will enhance its West Coast network from San Diego by adding two more daily flights to four key cities: Las Vegas, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, and San Jose, California. All of these destinations—except Salt Lake City—will have six daily flights beginning October 26. In addition, service to Salt Lake City will operate three times a day. The U.S. Department of State is strongly advising "prospective adoptive parents" to reconsider adoptions from Haiti, in part because of a longstanding travel warning to that country. "The Department of State continues to strongly advise prospective adoptive parents to reconsider intercountry adoptions from Haiti – particularly those who have not yet selected a country from which to adopt or those who have not yet been matched with a child from Haiti," the State Department warned in an April 14, 2025, news release.  "Adoption from Haiti is a long process in a dangerous environment that impedes processing. Conditions in Haiti include protests, demonstrations, and roadblocks, as well as criminal activity involving firearms, assault, kidnappings, and carjackings," the release says. Ford Motor Co. is no exception, and in a new memo to dealers, they're starting to reveal their plans to forge ahead with the new tariffs in place. Of course, the tariffs are impacting the supply chain, and that impacts the number of cars getting made each month. In a memo sent out on April 15, Andrew Frick , president of Ford's gas-fueled and electric car units, said the company is planning to raise prices on cars coming off assembly lines in May if tariff relief doesn't come for automakers. A family in Indonesia made a gruesome discovery after a 55-year-old grandmother went missing. According to The Sun , a 23-foot python killed and then attempted to eat the head of the young grandmother. The grandmother was reportedly picking vegetables in her garden and wasn't afraid of snakes, which run rampant in that part of the world. Her family said she wasn't scared because she's dealt with snakes since she was a girl. But things took a tragic turn after she went missing.
