The Beatles date back to the early 1960s, so one might think the band's fanbase is, well, mature. But, the Beatles are largely considered one of the biggest and most influential rock bands in Western music, so their fans really span the generations.
The Beatles formed in Liverpool in 1960 and featured longstanding band members Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and the late John Lennon and George Harrison. So, by the time "Beatlemania" struck when the band first arrived in the United States on Feb. 7, 1964, the band had already been around for more than a decade.
Now, one of pop music's biggest names is gushing over her love for The Beatles, even though they are generations apart.
In an April interview with British Vogue, Billie Eilish, 23, whose latest album is 2024's Hit Me Hard and Soft, was asked about her love for The Beatles. Eilish has also expressed her love for the Fab Four by sharing her cover versions of the classic Beatles songs "Something" and "Yesterday."
In the feature, British Vogue asked, "What singer or band would you like to perform upon your arrival?" Her answer? "The Beatles, definitely." She also added, "Maybe Frank Sinatra."
When asked for her favorite Beatles song, she had a very difficult time answering. Eilish even said it was the "hardest question of my life."
"So impossible to pick a favorite. I'm actually looking through everything right now and I literally cannot narrow it down at all," she said. Then, finally, she said, "'Something' never gets old. 'I'm Looking Through You' is actually one of my favorite songs ever."
She added, "'She's Leaving Home,' 'In My Life,' 'A Day in the Life,' 'And I Love Her,' 'Michelle,' 'Julia'... Like, I could just go on and on. I feel bad not naming more."
When asked about if she has a dream for who she will be at 85, Eilish said, "God, if I even live to 85, but if I do I would love to be embracing who I am, embracing being old, hoping the world hasn't ended yet, that would be my main hope..."
