Dolph Lundgren isn't spotted in public a lot these days, but he made a rare appearance on March 27 with his wife, Emma Krokdal, and his daughters, Ida Lundgren, and Greta Lundgren, whom he shares with ex-wife Anette Qviberg.
The everyday outing with Lundgren's family to Beverly Hills hotspot Avra might have been the first time some of the 67-year-old actor's fans realized that he was in a 40-year age gap marriage to Krokdal, who is 28 years old — the same age as his eldest daughter, Ida. His other daughter, Greta, is 23 years old.
Lundgren and Krokdal's romance sprung from an interest in fitness after meeting at an Equinox gym in West Hollywood, Calif. "I was looking for the boxing room, and I just grabbed somebody who was going up the stairs. She looked like a trainer, and I said, 'Hey excuse me, where's the boxing room?' " the action star recalled in a May 2023 interview, per People. "She turned around and it was like, 'Oh s---.' It was one of those flashes where you go, 'Uh-oh.' "
“I didn’t know why she liked me at all, but I suppose she saw something there," Lundgren added. "She didn’t know about my acting career, she didn’t know anything about me.”
The Expendables star described his wife, whom he married in July 2023 in Greece after a three-year engagement, as "quite mature" during an appearance on In Depth With Graham Bensinger in 2023. He cited her prior "difficult divorce" as a reason for her maturity. Lundgren shared that he was also "quite youthful" and that was the secret to their success.
Lundgren told journalist Kjersti Flaa in 2024 that his relationship with his much younger wife is "one of the most natural relationships" he's ever experienced. "Once I was married for 18 years and I had another relationship for nine years. But this time it happened very organically," he explained. "It happened gradually, so it never felt forced - or that we rushed into it."
