Hugh Jackman and his wife of 27 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, announced their separation in September 2023. The 56-year-old actor has moved on with Broadway star Sutton Foster, but it might surprise fans to hear that he's still not divorced.
The issue in settling Jackman and Furness' split is due to their disagreement on how to divvy up their fortune — he's worth $100 million and she's worth $50 million, per Celebrity Net Worth. The couple married in 1996 and did not sign a prenuptial agreement because, at the time, she was the bigger star.
"Hugh and Deborra-Lee have not yet filed for divorce because they are struggling to reach an agreement on how to divide their assets," an insider told the Daily Mail. "Deborra-Lee feels entitled to more money than Hugh is willing to offer." The media outlet is also claiming their estate is worth a whopping $250 million.
The source believes that the financial stalemate is partially due to her hurt feelings surrounding Jackman's blossoming relationship with Foster. The duo met while working on the New York revival of The Music Man from December 2021 to January 2023. They went public with their relationship in January after Foster filed for divorce in October 2024 from her husband of 10 years, Ted Griffin.
"While he didn’t physically cheat on her with Sutton, Deborra-Lee believes they were having an emotional affair and she feels he betrayed her," the insider alleged. Furness isn't looking back on her marriage to Jackman though — she's ready to move ahead.
“Deb is currently rebuilding her life and taking a vacation to Bhutan to start fresh and get away from the pain,” a pal told Us Weekly. “She’s relied on a strong support system of female friends. She also spends time with other women who’ve been through similar situations who offer her unwavering support.”
