The Duffer Brothers are making sure fans don’t get too excited about seeing the final season of Stranger Things just yet.
While Netflix has announced the massive hit sci-fi series from the sibling creators would return in 2025, the brothers aren't co-signing any timetable. It has been nearly three years since Season 4 dropped on the streamer on July 1, 2022.
In a conversation with Variety, Matt Duffer said the brothers were still pondering an exact release date with Netflix. They are hoping it will be this year but that would take “quite the push.”
“A lot of it hasn’t been decided, in terms of exactly the release dates and cadence. That’s one reason I’m not allowed to talk about it,” Matt told the publication. “We’re getting on a call in about a couple weeks about it. I just know it was very important for us and Netflix that we get it out this year. But even that is quite the push.”
Ross Duffer stressed everyone involved with the show is working to get it to viewers ASAP, remarking they ran into a similar time crunch with Season 4.
“[We’re] working as fast as we possibly can. Even Season 4, we cut that so tight. We were dropping in visual effects the day before launch!” He said. “So hopefully we’ll be a little more on schedule this year… now it’s just sort of climbing up another hill as we head towards finally finishing this.”
The news from The Duffer Brothers comes days after Netflix released a teaser video of all its major upcoming 2025 releases. Stranger Things included.
