These Are the 10 Most Affordable Beach Towns to Live in the World

Summertime means millions of people around the world are hitting the beach, whether in their own country or across the border. If you've ever wanted to live in a picturesque beach destination, there's an array of affordable options to choose from. 

Travel & Leisure just released a list of the 10 most affordable beach destinations around the world, and it includes some surprising entries as well as some potential snubs. To do this, it compiled expert input from International Living magazine and reports on the cost of living in cities across the globe, as well as the visa requirements to move there. 

In first place is George Town on the Malaysian island of Penang. It's not the only southeast Asian destination on the list with Canggu in Bali, Indonesia at number four and Hua Hin, Thailand in fifth. Mexico boasts two cities on the list with Mazatlán and Puerto Morelos, as well as Portugal with Lagos and the offshore Azores islands. 

As for other European destinations on the list, the beachside cities of Valencia in Spain and Toulon in the south of France might not come as a surprise to those familiar with the region. One entry that might catch travelers and beach lovers by surprise is Varna, Bulgaria situated on the Black Sea.
