Skip Bayless Calls Taylor Swift an NFL ‘Distraction,' Angers Fans

Skip Bayless has finally had it with Taylor Swift and the NFL, calling the pop star a “distraction” after the Chiefs fumbled their Christmas day game at Arrowhead. After a devastating 20–14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, Bayless posed a blunt question to Swift’s beau, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, along with his friend, QB Patrick Mahomes, and Chiefs coach Andy Reid. 

“Feels like it's about time to call Taylor Swift a distraction,” the Undisputed host posted on X (formerly Twitter). “What do you think, Patrick? Andy? How about you, Travis?”

Cameras found Swift in the stands a number of times during Monday’s game, as they often do when she’s in attendance. The Christmas match was a particularly rough one for the Chiefs, as they began the day as the favorite to win. At one point, Kelce was caught on camera angrily tossing his helmet to the ground as Mahomes and Reid attempted to intervene.

After the loss, Swift was seen comforting Patrick’s wife, Brittany, in the stands. The two, who have grown close in recent months were wearing matching red Santa hata emblazoned with “87” and “15” in reference to their partners' respective jersey numbers.

Neither Kelce nor Mahomes are playing up to the standard they set last season. Mahomes has come under 250 passing yards in seven games this season, including Monday’s, compared to just five in 2022. Last season, Kelce notched 1,144 yards for 12 touchdowns across 127 targets in 14 games. This year, he’s made just 968 yards for five touchdowns over 117 targets in 14 games.

How exactly that's Taylor Swift's fault remains unclear, although sports fans have a long history of superstitions surrounding players and their significant others.
