A rare piece of Apple memorabilia is being sold through Sotheby’s. For $50,000, one lucky collector will score a vintage pair of custom-made Apple sneakers.
The kicks are being sold directly through Sotheby’s, rather than being auctioned, in the collectible broker's "Buy Now" marketplace. According to the item description, the ultra-rare white sneakers were a one-time giveaway at a National Sales Conference in the mid-'90s. The old school rainbow Apple logo, described as the "standout detail," is featured on both the both the tongue and lateral quarter of the shoes.

"Having never reached the general public, this particular pair of sneakers is one of the most obscure in existence and highly coveted on the resale market," the description adds.
According to Forbes, the listing is currently the third most expensive for a pair of sneakers on Sotheby’s website, behind a pair of Nike SB Dunk Low Paris Bernard Buffet selling for $90,000 and a pair of Nike x Louis Vuitton Air Force 1s for $75,000.
While the sneakers were never available to the general public, in 1986 the tech company released what it called The Apple Collection, which featured an assortment of merchandise such as apparel, mugs, clocks, umbrellas, bags, and key rings, among other items. These so-called "white label products" were manufactured by third-party companies like Honda and Braun, but sold through Apple using the company's own branding and logo.
Apple merchandise is quickly becoming hot among collectors. As hefty as $50,000 is for a pair of sneakers, a rare, first-edition iPhone from 2007 recently sold for more than $190,000 at auction—nearly 400 times its original sale price.
If nothing else, that sum might the sting out of the price of Apple's forthcoming iPhone 15, which is rumored to be the most expensive model yet.
